According to estimates from the UNAIDS Global Report 2010 around 30.8 million adults and 2.5 million children are living with HIV.
Last year, some 2.6 million people became infected with HIV.
Around half of people who acquire HIV become infected before they turn 25, and AIDS is the second most common cause of death among 20-24 year olds.
1 in 3people living with HIV do not know that they are HIV+.
